Launching ChiWriter 3.17 with Fonts Download and Screen-Changes in DOS
Thanks to a recent contact with Jacques-Philippe Dupré, a mathematician, programmer and ChiWriter 3.14 expert in France, I have obtained a couple of useful files, which when written in English will give most of us ChiWriter users the means of obtaining several familiar effects simultaneously in a Windows system later than 3.1. (Win ME has no effective AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS to bring about changes in DOS.) Expand his HP.BAT and ASK.exe into your main ChiWriter directory, make a shortcut to HP.BAT, and you will kill four birds with one stone. You may determine your screen resolution, download to the printer, change colours in DOS and in your editing screen and start the programme at one go. The only drawback may be an increased use of RAM, and inflexibility if you do not happen to want all these effects at one time. No doubt the file could be shortened so as to include only some provisions.
If you want other screen colours than mine, just alter HP.BAT accordingly.
